Page 2 TABLE OF CONTENTS Introduction.2 Service.2 Contents and speci?cations.3 Introduction to the 6EXAP system.4 Transmitter controls and descriptions.4 Radio installation. Page 3 CONTENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS Transmitter: T6EXHP T6EXHP Transmitter with 6-model memory. Transmitting on 35, 40, 41, or 72 MHz band. When turning off the system, always turn off the receiver ?rst. The object is never to have the receiver on by itself. Otherwise, the servos or control surfaces could be damaged, or in the case of electric-powered models, the motor may unexpectedly turn on causing severe injury. IMPORTANT!: Never collapse the transmitter antenna by pushing down from the top. Page 5 Charging jack - Port for charging the transmitter batteries with the included battery charger. MODE key - Used to scroll through and display the “13” or “14”(PCM) different functions. SELECT key - Used to display the values for the current function. Also make sure the controls do not require excess force to operate. If there is an objectionable buzzing sound coming from a servo, there is probably too much resistance in the control. Find and correct the problem. Even if there is no servo damage, excess battery drain will result. After doing this several times the batteries will “remember” and eventually “think” they can supply only enough power for two ?ights. After two ?ights the batteries may not provide enough power to operate the system, thus causing a crash. Page 9 Model memory number and model name The Futaba T6EXHP stores model memories for six models. This means all the data (control throws, trims, end points, etc.) for up to six different models can be stored in the transmitter and activated at any time (depending upon which model you choose to ?y that day).

Full instructions on how to operate the controls are provided beginning on page 10. Also make sure the controls do not require excess force to operate. If there is an objectionable buzzing sound coming from a servo, there is probably too much resistance in the control. However, fast-charging with an aftermarket charger is acceptable as long as you know how to properly operate the charger. NEVER charge at a rate higher than 1,000 mAh (1 Amp). To select modulation: 1. THEN the EPAs may be used to make small changes in the servo throw until the desired control throw is achieved. The control throws should be set up so that the “end points”. If connecting the 6EXHP to the T7CHP, T9CHP or 14MZ with the small, square “micro” trainer jack, use the “Micro to Micro” (MM-TC) trainer cord (FUTM4415). If connecting the 6EXHP to Futaba radios with the larger, round, “DIN” connector, use “Micro to DIN”. The modes determine the functions that will be operated by control sticks.IMPORTANT: Your radio control system transmits a signal on a certain frequency. Be certain you know what the frequency is. This is expressed as a two-digit number (42, 56, etc.), and can be found on the container the transmitter came in and is also located on the transmitter and receiver.

Most kits are 1-S type. ???????? 3-S: With Aileron inputs, the aileron and pitch servos tilt the swashplate left and right; with Elevator inputs, the three servos tilt the swashplate fore and aft; with Pitch inputs, all three servos raise the swashplate up and down. In this menu, you may select from one of two options of operation for each channel. All the other channels are set to “NOR”. Page 20 FLOW CHART 6EXHP FUNCTIONS ?????????? To enter or leave Programming Mode, press MODE and SELECT keys simultaneously for one second. (Screen at Startup) To change the Stick Mode, turn on the transmitter holding MODE and SELECT keys down simultaneously. Use the DATA INPUT lever to display the desired stick mode. Page 21 OTHER 6EXHP FUNCTIONS Trainer function (student only) The T6EXHP trainer function lets you practice flying as student by connecting the T6EXHP to the instructor’s Futaba transmitter. The modes determine the functions that will be operated by control sticks. Currently, the transmitter is in “mode 2” and should be left in mode 2 unless you are an experienced ?yer and have learned to ?y in a different mode.
Page 10 PROGRAMMING THE 6EXHP RADIO Anytime you wish to view or change any of the current settings in the transmitter, the programming mode must first be entered by, of course, turning on the power, then by pressing the “MODE” and “SELECT” keys simultaneously and holding them down for one second. Page 11 PULS Modulation select function The Modulation select function is used to select the PPM or PCM mode of transmission, to match the receiver being used (PPM-Pulse Position Modulation, also called FM for Frequency Modulation, and PCM-Pulse Code Modulation). To select modulation: 1. Access the Model Select function in the programming mode (by pressing the MODE and SELECT keys simultaneously and holding them down for one second). Use the DATA INPUT lever to select the model memory you wish to modulation select. The amount of travel decrease for each control may be set between 0% and 100% of the values set for the end points (explained in End Point Adjustment on page 12). Note: It is possible to set a dual rate value to zero, thus causing no response from that channel. If the dual rates are inadvertently set to zero, a crash could result. Page 13 correct throw. The pushrods should ?rst be connected to the servo arms and control horns so that the correct, or near correct control surface throw will be achieved. THEN the EPAs may be used to make small changes in the servo throw until the desired control throw is achieved. The control throws should be set up so that the “end points” are as near to 100% as possible. Page 14 N-TH Normal throttle curve function Used to set throttle curve for normal ?ight. 5-point throttle curve is utilized to best match the blade collective pitch to the engine RPM for consistent load on the engine. Throttle curve can be adjust from 0-100% each point. This normal throttle curve create basic curve for around hovering. To set the normal throttle curve: 1. Page 15 3. Use SELECT key to select the desire curve point.

Futaba Manual Part No. Any help you It’s all in the radio setup portion of the manual as well.Almost all the Futaba receivers came with the BU4015BF Shift Register chip, if your are Futaba 6-Channel 6EXAP transmitter. What DC voltage (5V, 9.6V,.)? Any issue to use 8 rechargeable batteries. Every cell has 1.2V so 8 cells give me just 9.6V, right? The manual states that when voltage drops below 9.4V then one must stop flying and recharge batteries. Thanks, Uwe Each came with 4x2500mAh batteries and they charge them in about 4 hours I think.

If I am using a standard 6 channel Chopper radio (Futaba T6EXHP) to fly fixed wing which is fine with no mixing applied. On Off NOT using the SBUS method as I dont have S Bus equipment. The manual seemed to vaugly indicate Gyro switching that way but was unclear as to method. Heres a link to the manual if anyone can interperet it better than I can. Charging through the TX would take a lot longer, and at least the GP chargers have proper safety features (delta V etc). Fully charged the batteries are more like 11 Volts. Try to find a lipo that will fit inside the case and you will have 11.1v for much longer. Ed You can get a NiMh of the same size up to 2500 ma. I posted that battery because that is the stock battery that comes with the radio and thus the dimensions for any larger or lipo you might want to put in. The stock battery is an exact fit and there is a plug in on my circuit board. Yes there any many many. Beware cheap lipos. Saw one fail in a heli radio once. Not good. Lead me to believe you cannot have too many radios. But I supposed even having another on standby of the same channel, there might not be enough time to switch on the second in time to divert a crash. I went with the intention of buying a standard 6ch single conversion Futaba Rx into which I would have inserted a standard single conversion Xtal. I was persuaded by the owner of the model shop that the JR Rx, mentioned above, would be a much better and more up to date solution in that it doesn't require a Xtal, it locks on to my Tx automatically and would be compatible with my 6EXA Tx. Having got home and read through the Tx manual and sought info.If any one can offer me some advice on this one, I would be eternally grateful. My suspicion is that I will be returning to the model shop and doing a swap for the one I had intended to buy in the first place!! Looking forward to your comments. Kind regards, Ken. The manual should give you instructions of how to do this. This is how my T6EXAP works. It may be that you have a different model. I did not think that Futaba made a PCM only version of the 6EX, Bruce. As Bruce says, do not think that Futaba make a PCM only version. Also I have a JR RS 70 receiver and it tunes into the Futaba transmitter. It clearly states Futaba digital proportional radio control system and T6EXA. Ken. The Futaba website shows the differences. Thanks for all your help - at least I know where I stand now. I'll swap it for a standard Futaba Rx with xtal now. Ken Have you tried this. The update can be done by the new Jeti Studio v1.1.3. The 900MHz NG (Next Generation) backup module can be enabled (SW 5.04) after the appropriate module activation via the JETI SW shop Installation is possible into almost all types of transmitters. There are only two main requirements: A transmitter with the possibility of operation in PPM mode and space for the module in the transmitter. If needed, Duplex TU2 EX is also possible to put in the box and fit to the transmitter. Along with the mounting kit it simplifies mounting SWTU2 to the transmitters. An assembly set VOICE-1 may be better adapted to the acoustic properties after incorporation into the transmitter.
